Welcome to the Virtual Presence Revolution!

Hey there!

I'm Julie, and I help professionals look amazing and show up powerfully on camera—combining my background as a Virtual Executive Presence coach with my years as a professional screen actor (yep, that's me in an early season of Sex and the City!)

I wrote the award-winning book Look Me in the Eye: Using Video to Build Relationships and created the Virtual Executive Presence Assessment. So I've basically been living and breathing this virtual presence thing for a while now.

But honestly?

I still had to learn some hard lessons when it came to showing up on camera with the same polish and impact I'd always tried to bring to in-person meetings.

How This All Started

When the pandemic hit, I made a hilarious and slightly horrifying discovery. My entire professional wardrobe? Completely useless on camera.

Those power blazers that made me feel like a boss in the boardroom? They turned me into a linebacker on screen. My favorite silk blouses with the gorgeous patterns? Total dizzying light show. And those perfectly fitted designer tops I'd invested in? On camera, they just looked like... basic t-shirts.

As someone who'd spent decades coaching executives on presence AND working in front of cameras, I knew better. But apparently, I didn't know enough!

An Expensive Education

So I started hunting—online, in stores, everywhere—for tops that would look polished and professional on camera without stealing the show. Mistakes were made. LOL. But after so many expensive lessons, here’s what I discovered:

Once I understood why certain tops work on camera and others don't, everything changed. It wasn't just about buying pretty clothes—it was about understanding what elements are actually made for the camera. Which colors make you glow versus wash you out. Why certain necklines frame your face beautifully while others just create awkward negative space. What patterns and textures translate well on screen versus those that turn into a hot mess.

Suddenly, the whole process got SO much easier. I wasn't just randomly shopping and hoping for the best anymore. I was shopping with strategy. And the result? I looked more polished and put-together on camera—consistently. Not just on those lucky days when I happened to grab the right thing from my closet.

You're Not Alone

Through workshops and conversations with thousands of professional women around the world, I kept hearing similar frustrations:

  • "I don't feel confident about how I look on camera, and I have no idea how to fix it"
  • "Why is it SO hard to find professional tops that actually work on screen?"

And that's how ZoomChic was born—to help you navigate this weird new world where your camera is your conference room, and looking good on screen actually matters for your career.

Our Mission

We believe professional women shouldn't have to compromise their style standards just because they work virtually – part or all of the time.

At ZoomChic, we scout, test, and curate camera-friendly tops that help you shine on screen and elevate your virtual presence, not detract from it.
